HOW MUCH CHILD SUPPORT ?
Child support is generally determined on the payor's income, the number of children to be supported and the province in which the payor lives. The Child Support Tables are different for each province. If you go to the Federal Government website, you will find an abundance of useful information as well as instant child support calculators and the individual provincial tables. The Manitoba Tables are found here:
These tables are effective May 1, 2006. This was the first revision of the original 1997 tables.
NOTE: The Tables do not deal with Special or
Extraordinary Expenses. Be careful, the tables are not necessarily accurate in the following situations, which are or can be Exceptions
to the Table Amounts: A child is over the age of 18 The payor’s income is over $150,000.00 per year; A child is in "shared custody", that is between 40 - 60% of the
time over the year There are two children or more and custody is "split", that is
one or more children lives with one parent primarily and one or more lives with
the other The payor lives in another country There is a court finding of "undue hardship"
